   The Journey Towards Tomorrow

Discover the reasons why Dr Jane Goodall's research challenged the existing beliefs scientists have held about chimpanzees. Learn how the conservation programmes that have been developed to help protect chimpanzees are also helping the people in the communities that live near their natural habitats. But most importantly, discover the things we are also learning about ourselves from these amazing creatures. Sustainable processes are peace-building and ensure happy win-win endings for everyone involved, especially the animals. Imagine ways you can become involved in conservation programmes in your local areas. Remember that stories can be a powerful way of changing people's thinking and behaviour.

Dr Jane Goodall's chimpanzee research programmes are located at Gombe Stream National Park in Tanzania.

She became a UN Messenger for Peace in 2002. In recognition of her contribution to the advancement of research, education and advocacy on environmental issues, Kofi Annan appointed her a member of an advisory panel to assist in promoting the goals of the World Summit on Sustainable Development.
